Dennis, Mildred Mary Hradek Boyd

Mildred Mary Hradek Boyd Dennis, 96, died Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011, at the Mechanicsville Care and Rehabilitation Center. The Funeral Mass for Mildred will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Mechanicsville. Mildred's visitation will be Friday from 5 until 7 p.m. at Morgan Funeral Choices, Mount Vernon. She will be buried in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Surviving Mildred are her children: William (Sandy) Boyd, Santa Barbara, Calif., Robert (Betty) Boyd, Lake Sherwood, MO., and Barbara (Marlin) Flynn, Mechanicsville; stepsons: Darrel Dennis, Mount Vernon, and Dean (Karen) Dennis, Cedar Rapids, stepdaughter, Marcia (Gordon) Thomas, Olin; eight grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding Mildred in death were her parents; two husbands; brother, Joe Hradek; and two sisters, Clara Chansky and Irene Strever.

Mildred was born Jan. 25, 1915, on the family farm west of Iowa City, the daughter of William and Louise Picha Hradek. She graduated from City High School, Iowa City, in 1931, and married Samuel Boyd. He died in 1970. She married Ben Dennis. He died in 2005. Mildred worked for Cornell College food service for 15 years. She lived near Branson, Mo., before moving back to Mechanicsville.

Mildred was a member of Royal Neighbors of America, Emanons Bridge Club, American Legion Auxiliary, and St. Mary's Catholic Church and Guild, Mechanicsville.

A memorial fund is established.
