Dennis, Merle Lavone

Merle Lavone Dennis, 74, a resident of Willow Gardens Care Center, died there Thursday, Nov. 28, 2013. Funeral Service: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, by Father Wayne Droessler. The family will greet friends one hour before the service at the funeral home. Burial: Mount Clark Cemetery, Central City.

Survivors include his sons, Ron and Rick Dennis; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Merle was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth; and his parents.

Merle was born June 29, 1939, in Marion, Iowa, the son of Lavone and Vera (Kincade) Dennis. On Jan. 21, 1961, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Pillard in Prairieburg, Iowa. Merle was a big jokester and had a great sense of humor.
