DENNIS MASON
Cedar Rapids
Dennis Richard Mason, 67, of Cedar Rapids, died July 11, 2018, at UnityPoint-St. Luke's Hospital, surrounded by loved ones. He was born Sept. 18, 1950, in Vinton, Iowa, to Richard and Dorothy Mason.
Dennis had a love of cars and never saw one he didn't want. He enjoyed his sweets without his family knowing. He enjoyed watching fishing and car shows with his family; he knew every episode of Supernatural. Although his health issues restricted him, his laugh and mischievous smile were infectious and will be missed by everyone.
Dennis was proud to serve his country, serving during the Vietnam War and in the Army Reserve following his return home. Dennis was employed at P & H Harnischfeger until his retirement.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Bonnie; children, Elizabeth (Henry) Etten and Shawn Mason (girlfriend Tina Cherveny); grandchildren, Elias, Cierra, Kaitlyn and Skylar; his mother, Pauline Mason; siblings, Diana Usher, Mike (Deb), Rich (Kim) and John (Cathy) Mason; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and his special fur-friend, "Miss Kitty." He was preceded in death by his father, Richard "Dick" Mason; and mom, Dorothy Knaack.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 17, 2018, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, followed by a service at 3 p.m. with entombment to follow.
Any memorials in Dennis' honor may be directed to the family.
