Dennis married Susan Jane Caves on August 2, 1975, at North Court Baptist Church in Ottumwa, Iowa. He was a member of New Covenant Bible Church for 45 years, where he acted as Children’s Sunday School Superintendent, Deacon, and led home Bible studies. Dennis was always ready with a joke and had a laugh that made everyone around him join in. He enjoyed reading, tennis, pickleball, golf, bike riding, music, and attending sporting events. He cherished his friends and looked forward to a good conversation over breakfast with them.
Left to cherish Dennis' memory are the love of his life and wife of 48 years, Susan, his son Daniel Pettit, his daughters Stephanie (Dustin) Coy, and Stacey (Michael) Wilke; eight grandkids, Alec Knepper, Reece Knepper, Adelyn Pettit, Ellison Pettit, and their mother Rachael Pettit, Kipton Coy, Ashlyn Coy, Karleigh Coy, and Kaylee Sue Wilke; his sister Debbie (David) Truitt; mother-in-law Miriam Caves, brother-in-law Steven (Suzanne) Caves and their children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law Donald Caves.
