Denise Lawrence, 70, died Thursday evening at the Bethany House in Dubuque following an extended illness.
Mass of Christian burial will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, 2023 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Prairieburg, Iowa, where visitation will start at 9 a.m. until service time. Fr. Paul Baldwin will officiate at the services. Interment will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery. Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, has taken Denise and her family into their care. Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Michael (Abby), a granddaughter, Lucy, her mother, Marilyn Lloyd, three siblings, Ken (Sandy) Lloyd, Karen Lloyd, Cheryl Ryan. Denise was preceded in death by her husband, C.W. her son John, her father, Edward, and a brother-in-law, Doug Ryan.
Denise Marie Lloyd was born Aug/ 9, 1953 at Mercy Hospital, Anamosa, Iowa. She was the daughter of Edward and Marilyn Palmer, Lloyd. Denise graduated from, Central City High School in 1971. She married C.W. Lawrence on Dec. 11, 1982 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Denise was employed at Rockwell Collins for 33 years. She then worked at the National Motorcycle Museum in Anamosa and then at the parish office at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Monticello. She retired on July 31, 2021. Denise lived at the family acreage outside Prairieburg until February 2023, when she relocated to Dubuque to be closer to her son Michael and his family.
Denise was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She enjoyed reading, writing and journaling. She was a proud member to the Noble Nutcrackers Hallmark Club with an extensive ornament collection. She loved spending time with family and friends, always showing off her beloved granddaughter Lucy.
