DENIS (DENNY) JOHN SCHULTE
Norway
Denis (Denny) John Schulte passed away Oct. 25, 2016, in Sierra Vista, Ariz., after complications following hip surgery.
Denis was born Oct. 15, 1932, in Norway, Iowa, to Charles A. and Gertrude (Boddicker) Schulte. He attended schools in the Norway and Fairfax area and Loras College in Dubuque. The youngest of eight children, he was under a
year old when his mother died. The older siblings, Margaret and Evelyn, maintained the family function on the farm and nurtured Denis to become a loving father and husband. Denis worked on the family farm near Norway with his birth family until joining the Navy. While in the Navy, he served in the Korean War.
He married Dorothy Ann Wall in 1956 and worked at Wright Patterson AFB in Dayton, Ohio. Later, he and his family moved to Sierra Vista, Ariz., and he worked in defense communications at Fort Huachuca.
Dorothy passed away in 1981. After Dorothy's passing, he married Charlotte (Kitty) Paschall, and his career moved him to Washington, D.C., where he stayed until 1997.
After retiring in 1997, he moved to Martinez, Ga., until Charlotte passed away in 2012. After Kitty's passing, he moved back to Sierra Vista to be near his daughters.
Denny joins wives, Dorothy and Kitty, and daughter, Deborah Schulte, in heaven.
He is survived by daughters, Denise and Diane; son, David; one sister, Rita Hunter; three stepdaughters living in Georgia; and numerous grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews, including Marsha Barta and Jack Barta, with whom he was raised.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Lloyd and Vemon; and sisters, Margaret Schulte, Evelyn Barta, Marie Hannen and Marian Kurl.
A small memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, at Cochise Memory Gardens, Sierra Vista. A memorial service is being planned at the Norway Legion Hall at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please make your donation to Norway Legion or your favorite charity in Denis' name.
