Denger, Donald 'Don'

Donald “Don” Denger, 77, of Belle Plaine, formerly of Davenport, died Monday, Sept. 24, 2012, at the Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 1, at The Runge Mortuary in Davenport. Visitation will be Monday from 12:30 p.m. until the service. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery.

Don was born Jan. 21, 1935, in Davenport, the son of Herbert and Josephine (Walker) Denger. He married Roberta J. “Bobbie” Carlin in 1957 in Davenport. He served in the Air Force.

Don worked for Alcoa for 30 years before his retirement. He enjoyed traveling, especially in his motor-home, going to auctions and refinishing furniture. He was a master woodworker.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Bobbie; children: Rhonda (Martin) Wittrock, Atkins; Lance Denger, Rio Rancho, N.M.; and Rita (Abel) Sanchez, Belle Plaine; grandchildren: Natalie, Jonathan, Melissa, Ian, Kellie, Christia, Bradley, Brandi, Gabriella, Jacob and Isaac; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Lois Johnson, Bettendorf; and brother, Jack Denger, Davenport.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Margaret and Jane; and a brother, Richard.

Memorials may be made to the Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha.
