Deng, Thouk Kuon
Thouk Kuon Deng, 30, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, May 17, 2012, at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics after a short illness. Services: Noon Saturday at Immanuel Baptist Church by the Rev. Dan Wiersama and the Rev. Peter Bur. Burial: Spring Grove Cemetery. Friends may visit after 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Teahen Funeral Home is serving the family.
Thouk is survived by three brothers, Simon of Cedar Rapids and Thing and Tuach of Sudan; a sister, Nyarvon Kuon of Sudan; two half sisters, Nyacher and Nyaruach Kuon of Sudan; a half brother Kuong Kuon of Sudan; eight nephews and five nieces; and many aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Nyaching.
Thouk was born April 3, 1982, in Sudan, the son of Kun and Nyadeng Lual Buoy. He graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Finance. He worked as a cook at Quaker Oats and was also a soccer referee.
