DeNeve, Russell Charles Andrews
Russell Charles Andrews DeNeve, 47, of Martelle, formerly of Victor, died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013. near Anamosa. A funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 11, at St. Bridget Catholic Church in Victor, with the Rev. Brian Shepley presiding. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Victor. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday at Smith Funeral Home in Victor and his family will be present to greet friends from 4 until 8 p.m.

Russell was born Oct. 22, 1965, to Charles and Beverly (Novotny) Andrews in Marengo, Iowa. He was raised in Victor, baptized at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Belle Plaine, and confirmed at St. Bridget's Catholic Church in Victor. He graduated from HLV High School in Victor with the class of 1985.
Russell attended ABC Trade School in Cedar Rapids and received a Journeyman Electrical license. He owned and operated a small business in Victor and then began his career with Archer Daniel Midland in Cedar Rapids in 2007, recently being promoted to an engineering position. Russell was united in marriage to Carol Neighbor on Jan. 18, 1997, in Cedar Rapids.
Russell had an outgoing personality and was the life of the party. He loved spending time with his two sons and together they spent countless hours enjoying outdoor activities. He held a special bond for nature and animals. His other enjoyments were snowmobiling, riding Harley Davidson motorcycles, and working on Arctic Cat snowmobiles. He was a member of the Frozen Few Club in Coggon and the Snow Drifters Club in Solon.
Russell is survived by his faithful wife of 16 years, Carol DeNeve of Ely; two sons, Garret DeNeve of Tiffin and Devin DeNeve of Iowa City; his mother and stepfather, Beverly and Ed DeNeve of Victor; his sister, Danielle (Robert) Nowotny of Victor; and a nephew, Rhett Nowotny, and niece, Ashleen Nowotny, both of Victor.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Andrews.
