DeNeve, Lanny
Lanny DeNeve, 44, died Thursday, Oct. 1, 2009, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids following an extended illness. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. John Catholic Church in Blairstown with Father Jack McClure, C.PP.S., officiating. Interment will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Blairstown. The family will receive friends at the church from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
Lanny was born May 11, 1965, in Cedar Rapids, to Eugene and Becky (Kimmich) DeNeve, and graduated from Benton Community High School in 1983. Then he attended Kirkwood Community College, earning an associate degree in accounting. He was employed at Vertis Communications in Marengo since 1997.
On July 11, 1998, he was united in marriage to Robin (Emanuel) Payton at Blairstown. The couple had made their home in Blairstown. For many years Lanny had been a member of the Blairstown Volunteer Fire Department. In his leisure he enjoyed bowling and hunting with his sons.
A devoted family man, Lanny loved attending his children's sporting activities.
He is survived by his wife, Robin; and their children, Keaton (16), Kody (14) and Kaylee (20) DeNeve, all at home, Justine (23) (Jared) Koster, and their son, Kale (5) Holland, of Blairstown, and Alex Payton (19) of Ames; his parents, Gene and Becky DeNeve of Blairstown; his siblings, Trent (Wendy) DeNeve of Blairstown, Mindy (Andy) Wallace of Belle Plaine, Jodi (Steve) Metz of Blairstown, Cory DeNeve of Marengo, Kami (Roger) Thenhaus of Belle Plaine and Kandee (Chris) Flowers of Blairstown; his maternal grandfather, George Kimmich of Blairstown; and Robin's parents, Larry and Bonnie Emanuel of Blairstown; her brother, Russell (Kelly) Emanuel of Blairstown; her sister, Wendy (Rob) Craft of Walford; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Phillips Funeral Home in Blairstown is in charge of arrangements.
