Denese Marie Kromminga, 63, of Solon, died Feb. 4, 2016, from complications of ovarian cancer. She was at home surrounded by family and friends. February 4 was World Cancer Day.
She is survived by friend, Paul Sofranko of Iowa City; and her children, Micah Toomey and husband Malcolm Sturgis of Winnetka, Ill., Bridget Toomey of Iowa City and Daniel Toomey of St. Paul, Minn.; and beloved grandchildren, Annabel, Ian and Edward Sturgis. She is also survived by siblings, Dan and wife Debbie of Albany, Ga., Jill and husband Jeff Risk of Iowa City, Jeff and wife Darla of Keystone, John and wife Margo of Grimes and Kara (Kromminga) Cobb and husband Mike of Urbandale; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.
A Cele-bration of Denese's Life will be held on Sunday, Feb. 14, at The Avacentre, 100 S. Cedar, Solon. Visitation is from 1 to 3 p.m. followed by a ceremony and refreshments.
