Delores A. Becicka, 76, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, June 22, 2014, at St. Luke's Hospital. Celebration of Life gathering will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 26, at The Avacentre at Brosh Chapel, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW. Private family inurnment will be in Czech National Cemetery.
Delores was born Aug. 12, 1937, in Des Moines, the daughter of Kenneth L. and Doris (Slaymaker) Robertson. She married Frank Becicka, her high school sweetheart, on Aug. 18, 1956. They were married 56 years. Delores was employed at IPC of Iowa and along with her husband, Buzz, owned and operated motels in Kingman, Ariz., El Campo, Texas, and also in Marion. She retired in 2012. Delores enjoyed Elvis music, going to the casino and the time spent with her family.
Delores is survived by her children, Frank G. (Kim) Becicka of Ely, Mark A. (Leslie) Becicka and Sherri K. (Ron) Bettmeng, both of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; stepfather, Charles Shira of Las Vegas, Nev.; and siblings, Jack (Betty) Robertson, Joan (Dick) Johnson and Shirley Hilleshiem, all of Cedar Rapids, and Penny (Dick) Lerch of Las Vegas, Nev.
Delores was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Buzz who died Dec. 22, 2012; her brother, Tony Shira; and sisters-in-law, Mary (Lester) Kelsey and Maxine (Don) Merta.
