DELORES A. GRIFFITH
Lowden
Delores A. Griffith, 76, of Lowden, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 4, 2021, at Mechanicsville Specialty Care. Funeral services will be held at Chapman's in Clarence on Saturday, Sept. 11, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Matt Schneider-Adams officiating. Casual attire is requested. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Clarence Cemetery.
Delores was born Oct. 26, 1944, in Parkersburg, Iowa, to Dick and Marie (Feckers) Arends. She married Don Becthold on March 21, 1964, and they later divorced.
She is survived by her daughters, Dawn (Doug) Muench of Chandler, Ariz., DeAnna Taylor of Lisbon and Deb (Jeff) Wenndt of Clarence; granddaughters, Becca Hulme, Jenel Klimesh and Keegan Meyer; three great-grandchildren; and brothers, DeWayne (Lucy) of Oxford Junction and Ray (Susan) of Washington.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her granddaughter, Nicole.
Delores started her career as an RN and then became the activity director for a couple of nursing homes. She then went to work for Lloyd's Table in Lisbon for many years before helping others by working with hospice. In her younger years, she supported her kids to the fullest, including their showing of horses, and she also volunteered for the Clarence Ambulance. She loved her grandkids, following them through their lives, as well as the Iowa Hawkeyes (especially basketball), cards and Ditto's. Delores was a strong-willed woman, but had a big heart and would help anybody.
The family would like to thank Mechanicsville Specialty Care for their excellent care and compassion for Delores.
Memorials can be directed to the St. John's food pantry.
