Dellamuth, Dixie Rae
Dixie Rae Dellamuth, 66, died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013, at her home in Blairstown following a battle with cancer. Funeral Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, at Blairstown Legion Hall. Interment will be 10 a.m. Friday at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Blairstown. Friends may call at the Legion Hall from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
A memorial fund has been established.
Dixie was born Aug. 12, 1947, in Cedar Rapids, to Lester and Eunice (Pearson) Newton. She graduated from Blairstown High School.
On Dec. 17, 1983, she was united in marriage to Darrel Dellamuth at the Blairstown Presbyterian Church. Dixie provided daycare in her home for many years and also worked in housekeeping at the Marengo Memorial Hospital.
She loved to do latchhooks and shopping with her friends but her greatest joy was spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren. Dixie thoroughly enjoyed life and was an excellent cook.
She is survived by her husband, Darrel; her children, Trudey (Brian) Nekola of Tama, Dena (Christian) Shonts of Charlotte, N.C., and Nick (Christy) Dellamuth of Blairstown; her son-in-law, Scott Northup of Blairstown; eight grandchildren, Brittany, Hunter, Jenna, Zoey, Jordyn, Mason, Katie and Olivia; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gene (Marilyn) Dellamuth of Blairstown; her siblings, Marilyn Stander of Vinton, Terry (Janet) Newton of Blairstown, Randy (Judy) Newton of California and Brenda (Daryl) Meyer of Blairstown; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her in-laws, Ervin and Thelma Dellamuth; her daughter, Tammi Jo Northup; and two sisters, Betsy and Susan.
