Delight "Dee" Evelyn Hotz, 76, of Troy Mills, passed away Thursday, March 9, 2017, at Willow Gardens Care Center, Marion. Visitation: 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, March 12, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. Funeral service: 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 13, at the funeral home. Burial: Troy Mills Cemetery, Troy Mills.
Dee is survived by her husband, Richard of Troy Mills; daughter-in-law, Patti Cole of Cedar Rapids; son, Mike (Laura) Hotz of Brandon; daughter, Karla Armstrong of Marion; grandchildren, Jeremy, Danielle, Casey, Michaela, Jesse, Brenda, Luke, Jimmy, Christopher, Samantha, Alec and Nicole; 28 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Dora Eden, Hubert (LaVerna) Peal, Elma (Gary) Hepner, Marty (Ken) DeMoss, Lou (Pat) Peal and Ruth Slaymaker; sister-in-law, Judy Peal; and brother-in-law, Larry (Donna) Hotz.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Leona Sweet; son, David Cole; sister, Clara "Lee" Miller; brother, Connie Peal; and brothers-in-law, Kenneth Eden and Joseph Slaymaker.
Dee was born May 14, 1940, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Connie and Delight (Bigsby) Peal. On Aug. 27, 1969, in Rockford, Ill., she married Richard Hotz. Dee worked for Pierson's Flower Shop, Metal Fabricators and Hy-Vee, before retiring in 2016.
She was a member of American Legion Post 298 Auxiliary in Marion.
A memorial fund has been established in Dee's memory.
