Delbert J. Masterhan, 74, of Marion, died Monday, Sept. 15, 2014, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha, after a long illness. Services at 11 a.m. Monday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories where friends may call after 10 a.m. Monday. Burial with military rites at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Per Del's request the casket will be closed at all times. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements
Survivors include his wife, Janice; two sons, Todd (Lorie) of Springfield, Ill., and Del (Heather) of Kodiak, Alaska; and a daughter, Leslie Anderson of Florida.
He is also survived by several grandchildren, including Katia and Scott.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Darrell.
Del was born on July 28, 1940, in Oelwein, the son of Dale and Bertha Warner Masterhan. He married his wife of 50 years, Janice I. Clark on Aug. 8, 1964, in Rock Island, Ill.
Del was an independent over-the-road truck driver for over 25 years and later drove for Quality Chef Foods, retiring in 2001, after 10 years of service. He enjoyed sports, auto racing and was an avid model railroader. He was a member of a local model railroad club for several years and proudly served in the Air Force. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Memorial donations may be given to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
