Delbert F. Ditch, 90, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Friday, Dec. 2, 2022, in his home. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, 2022, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW. Celebration of Life services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 9, 2022, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre. Burial will follow in Cedar Memorial Cemetery, where full military rites will be conducted.
Delbert was born Aug. 16, 1932, in Bertram, the son of Francis M. and Mary (Snobl) Ditch. He graduated from McKinley High School. He served in the United States Army. Delbert was united in marriage to Donna Snyder of June 12, 1960, in Olds, Iowa. He worked as a welder and foreman at Cedar Rapids Inc. for over 34 years, retiring in 1994. Delbert was a long-time member of St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, traveling, camping, being a part of 4-H, working on the family farm, and most of all spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Delbert is survived by his children Linda (Jim) Ruby-Bevill of Robins, Nancy (Gene) Hlas of Swisher and Debra (William) Ender of Mt. Vernon; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren ; brother Larry ; sisters-in-law Dolores Ditch, Pat Ditch, Sharon Ditch, Joanne Gilbaugh and Dorothy Ditch; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Donna, siblings Arnold, Stanley, Mary (Dave) Shakespeare and Leonard and son-in-law Jon Ruby.
