Dee A. Ommen, 46, of Dallas City, Ill., formerly of Toddville, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2017, near Dallas City. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion. Memorial service: 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 10, at the funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Kathryn Franzenburg. Graveside service will be held at a later date.
Dee is survived by her significant other, Mike Dean of Dallas City; mother, Betty (Harold Petersen) Barnard of Cedar Rapids; grandmother, Delpha Mae Larson of Marion; sister, Charlene (Ed) Allaire of Toddville; nieces, Catherine Young (Conner Lewis) of Cedar Rapids and Megan Young of Toddville; great-nephew, Zane Young-Seibert, also of Toddville; uncle and aunt, Neville (Helen) Barnard of Vinton; cousin, Ray Herbert (Mary Ann) Barnard of Vinton; and her five beloved cats, Reeses, Maddie, Comet, Wrigley and Mr. Man.
She was preceded in death by her father, Allen Barnard; grandparents, Ray and Neva Barnard; grandfather, Warren Larson; and her cats, Jag and Cozy.
Dee was born Aug. 24, 1970, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She grew up in Toddville and graduated from Alburnett High School in 1988. Dee graduated from Hamilton Business College in 1990. She worked at Yellowbook in Cedar Rapids for many years and later for Griffin Muffler in Fort Madison, Iowa. On Sept. 14, 2002, Dee married Scott Ommen. They later divorced.
Dee enjoyed traveling, concerts, her flower garden, boating with Mike, and most of all, spending time with her beloved cats.
