Decious, Joan Marie (Capron)
Joan Marie (Capron) Decious, 62, died Jan. 24, 2013, from a courageous battle with lung cancer at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 28, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 201 North Ford, Anamosa. Visitation will be Sunday, Jan. 27, from 2 to 7 p.m. at the church. Burial will be at a later date.
Surviving are her husband, Lynn; her three brothers, Gary (Sandra) Capron, Robert (Barb) Capron and Michael (Phyllis) Capron; niece, Crystal (Ed) Sarsfield; nephews, Trevor (Jeannie) Capron, Casey Perez, Ben (Mindy) Capron and Jeremy (Danielle) Capron; and great-nieces and great-nephews, Zoey Ann, Megan, Jordan, Elizabeth (goddaughter), Chesney, Ava, Hope and Allison Ann Marie.
Joan Marie Capron was born Feb. 20, 1950, in Monticello, Iowa, the daughter of Harry and Catharina (Folkers) Capron. She was a 1968 graduate of Anamosa Community High School, married Lynn Decious in 1978, was a 1981 graduate of Kirkwood Community College and was a 1992 graduate of Mount Mercy College, with Magna Cum Laude honors .
She retired from working for the State of Iowa in 2004. She then worked part-time for Knuth Law Office and in 2007, took a job with Linn County REC until her illness.
Joan loved more than anything to be with her nieces and nephews and later their kids. She went snow skiing, Bicycling on RAGBRAI, RIDE THE ROCKIES, and many other bike rides.
She will be missed by her family and those closest to her.
