On Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2014, Debra Lynn (Hartsoe) Wilson was called to Heaven after a courageous
fight with cancer.
Debra was born July 22, 1963, to J.A. "Jim" and Barbara Hartsoe, and was raised in Gladbrook, attending Gladbrook Community School class of 1981.
She worked in dietary at Westbrook Acres Nursing Home, Gladbrook, and in security at the Meskwaki Casino, raising her two daughters, Kelsey Renee and Devin Nicole Hartsoe.
On Nov. 3, 1999, Debra married Dorsey John Wilson, and together they had a son, Tyler James, in 2000.
In 2002, the family moved to northern Linn County, where she worked at Central City Manufacturing.
In recent years, Debra was very active in a 12-step program, where she touched many lives and sponsored a number of young women by sharing her message of strength, experience, and hope.
Debra was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, husband and an infant sister.
Those left to honor Debra's memory include her three children; a grandchild, Joshua Dorsey Inman; two sisters, Susan (Tracy) Gienger of Newton and Linda (Mark Koder) Keller of Norwalk; nephews, Shaun, Geoff, Cody, Derrek and Collin; longtime friend, Amy Mooney-Geels; and a number of aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and close friends.
A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church, Central City, from 1 to 3 p.m. Oct. 25.
