DEBRA JEAN TAPKEN

Debra Jean Tapken, 62, died Sunday, April 29, 2018,
at Mercy Medical Center. A celebration of life service will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 5, at Central Assembly of God Church, 3030 F Ave. NW, Cedar Rapids, IA 52405. Burial will be private.
Survivors inlude her Southern gentleman, Ricky Estrada; children, Laurie (Rob) Klein, Rhonda Boots (Jason), Stacy Applegate, Kathryn Tapken and Melanie (David) Simmons; a brother, David (Marci) Titera; sister, Julie Titera-Fobair; grandchildren, Kaelyn, Makenna, Hannah Boots, Emily, Carly Applegate, Kinsey Klein, Mason, Gabrielle Klein and multiple other bonus grands; her nephews, Jason and Kyle Fobair; great-niece, Elisabeth; and extra son, TJ Boots.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Anton Titera III; and her husband, Merrill Tapken.
She was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and attended Washington High School and Mount Mercy College. She worked many years for the Cedar Rapids Community School District. She enjoyed her part-time work for Home Instead.
All memorials may be directed to the family.
Deb enjoyed her time with her large family and friends and her bonus sister, Jan. Her hobbies included gardening, reading, and spending time crafting and cooking with her grandkids. She loved her animals. She always rooted for the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Cubs. She will be missed and always loved by many.
