DEBRA ANN "DEB" STEIN

Debra Ann "Deb" Stein, 61, Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2015, in her home after a courageous battle with cancer. Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's United Methodist Church. The Rev. Sherrie IIg will officiate. Burial: Memorial Park Cemetery in Davenport. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday.
Survivors include her husband, Bill; a daughter, Lindsay (Cale) Jasper of Davenport; a son, Eric Kohnen of Boring, Ore.; two stepsons, Jim (Amy) Stein of Waynesboro, Pa., and Jeff (Brenda) Stein of West Des Moines; and two sisters, Pam (Bob) DeMeester of East Dubuque, Ill., and Cher (Joe) Hoffmann of La Motte.
She also is survived by her grandchildren, Evan, Will, Kristin, Cooper and Connor Stein and Hadley Jasper; and her golden doodle, Izzy.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Deb was born Dec. 27, 1953, in Dubuque, the daughter of Donald and Janet (Schuster) Kirmse, and graduated from Hempstead High School. She married the love of her life, William D. Stein, on June 19, 1993, in Davenport.
Deb was a life administrator at Wellmark for over 25 years, retiring in 2013.
She was an active member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and PEO II. She enjoyed playing golf, going on sister trips and taking winter vacations to Arizona with her husband, Bill. Deb especially enjoyed the time spent with her beloved family and many friends.
She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
Memorial donations may be given to the Mission of Hope in Cedar Rapids, Family Promise of Linn County, PEO II, St. Paul's Building Fund or to a charity of the donor's choice.
