Debra Ellen Simonsen passed away Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2021, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was born Sept. 26, 1952, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to the late Billy Gene Jones and Mona Raye (Proffer) Jones Edwards. Debra married Raymond Dean Shannon and they had two children, Raymond Dean Jr. and Heather Ellen.
Debra was working for the public school system when she retired. She enjoyed helping people and loved her family. She was preceded in death by her parents and her son.
Debra is survived by her daughter, Heather; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren;, her brother, Rick Jones; and sister, Jackie Tomlin.
There will be a gathering together on May 14, 2022, for a Celebration of Life in remembrance of Debra. She is remembered for her willingness to offer help and be generous to those she met.
