Debra “Deb” K. Woods, 60, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2022, at St. Luke’s Hospital. Service: 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, at St. Patrick Catholic Church by the Rev. Dennis Miller. Friends may visit with the family from 2 to 3 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12, at Calvary Cemetery, Ryan. Luncheon to follow the burial at St. Patrick Hall in Ryan. Teahen Funeral Home is serving the family.
Deb is survived by her significant other of 28 years, Steve Emken of Cedar Rapids; children, Blaine (Molly) Beatty of Ankeny, Cal (Kaitlin) Beatty of Cedar Rapids, Emily (Jordan) Shebetka of Fairfax and Ross (Tina) Emken of Swisher; grandchildren, Blair, Shea, Lane, Blakelyn, Henry and Hudson; siblings, Mike (Angi) Woods, Kevin (Karen) Woods and Dan (Julie) Woods; brother in-law, Dan Stanford; and a long list of nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Karen; brother, Patrick; and Ryan Emken.
Deb was born on July 23, 1962, in Manchester, the daughter of Francis “Pat” and Mary Jo (Burke) Woods. She grew up in Ryan and graduated from West Delaware High School in 1980. She worked her entire professional career as a leasing and accounting specialist, where she met many lifelong friends.
Deb was a proud Irish Catholic whose greatest joy was being a grandma and spending time with her large fun loving family. She enjoyed cooking, taking trips, attending plays and concerts, riding in the truck with Steve and “Tuddy” and spending time at the Woods Farm.
Special thanks to all who cared and supported her with love through her journey, including the Carmelite Nuns.
