Deborah Ann Muskat, 91, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Dec. 15, 2014. Memorial services: 1 p.m. Sunday at Calvin Sinclair Presbyterian Church, where a visitation will begin at noon. The Rev. Will Jackson will officiate. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Deb was born to George Donald and Margaret Angeline Wilson Graver Sr. on Sept. 5, 1923, in Lisbon, Iowa. She graduated from Lisbon High School in 1940 and attended the University of Iowa. She was married to Charles Hendrickson Jr. from 1945 to 1956. On March 11, 1961, she married Lawrence Muskat.
Deb is survived by her sister, Sherry Wilson of Black River Falls, Wis.; special sister, Diane Henthorn of Cedar Rapids; stepdaughter, Kelly (Tom) Harold of New Carlisle, Ohio; two nieces, Margaret (Otis) Watson of Port Huron, Mich., and Deborah (George) Mears of Delphi, Ind.; a nephew, Jacob (Sue) DeKoyer of Batavia, Ill.; sisters-in-law, Sister Mary Monica Muskat, Zita Pretasky, Rose (Dave) Marcou and Kathy (Cal) Grise; and brother-in-law, Raymond Muskat.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry; her sister, Charlotte DeKoyer; and a brother, George Donald Graver Jr.
Deb was a member of Soroptmist International of Cedar Rapids and Marion, The ARC of East Central Iowa, The FFLO Club and Calvin Sinclair Presbyterian Church.
Deb worked for Cities Services Acme Super Service in Cedar Rapids for 20 years. She worked five years for the Cedar Rapids Recreation Center and was owner of "Debbie's Breezeway Shoppe" (hand-crafted specialties) in the Roundhouse City Market.
She enjoyed fishing in Lake Michigan and Canada. Deb was recipient for Advocate of the Year in 1996 and Volunteer of the Year in 2005 from The ARC of East Central Iowa. She was honored in 2001 for her 25 years of volunteer service from the Abbe Center and was inducted into the Abbe Center Hall of Fame in 2002.
