Debbie Sue Benson, 63, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Monday, Sept. 20, 2021. A visitation will be held from
9 to 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 27, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Private family entombment will take place at the Linwood Cemetery Mausoleum in Cedar Rapids.
Debbie was born Aug. 30, 1958, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Betty (Burger) Wiese. She graduated from Kennedy High School in Cedar Rapids. Debbie began working at Aegon in 1979 and later worked for Two Men and a Truck. She loved fishing, gardening and ringing the bell at the kettle drive. Debbie was an avid Iowa Hawkeye football fan and she loved the Washington Football Team.
Survivors include her daughter, Teri (Jason) Steimel; granddaughters, Chloe and Savannah; sister, Jan (Al) Graham; nephews, Doug (Katie) Graham, Scott (Kristen) Graham and Mike (Caley) Graham; her first husband, Don Benson; and eight great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Wiese; fiance, Jim Shay; and two dogs, Rusty and Smoke.
