Debbi Sue Strait Schlotfelt, 55, of Cedar Rapids, passed away suddenly Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2016, in her home. Celebration of life gathering will
be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW. A private family inurnment will be at a later date. A continued celebration will follow starting at 7 p.m. Friday at Porky's Bar and Grill at 4617 J St. SW.
Debbi was born Sept. 16, 1960, in Omaha, Neb., the daughter of Gilbert and Marie (Hessemer) Tarr. She was united in marriage to Jim "Skip" Schlotfelt in June 1986. Debbi worked at Bob Zimmerman Ford for the past 30 years. Debbi and Skip spent time with friends, family and enjoyed life to the fullest. She enjoyed gardening, working and making those around her happy.
Debbi will be greatly missed for her zest for life.
Debbi is survived by her husband, Skip; her mother, Marie Tarr of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two sisters, Lori (Stew) Baskin of Las Vegas, Nev., and Mari (Gary) Smith of Parker, Colo.; father-in-law, James Schlotfelt of Cedar Rapids; brothers-in-law, Rod Schlotfelt and Lonnie Schlotfelt, both of Cedar Rapids; sister-in-law, Joni Kern of Cedar Rapids; her nieces and nephews; and her loving animals, Hays and Isky.
Debbi was preceded in death by her father, Gilbert Tarr, who died in April 2011; and her mother-in-law, Ardella Schlotfelt.
