Deb Gatewood, 68, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Monday, Sept. 13, 2021, at Mercy Medical Center. Per Deb's wishes, her body has been donated to the University of Iowa in the hopes of furthering medical and scientific education. Celebration of Life will be held from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 9, 2021, at 1852 Memorial Dr. SE, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, assisted the family.

Deb was born Aug. 13, 1953, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Robert and Dorothy (Jenkins) Gatewood. She was one of 15 children.

Deb had a big heart. She welcomed anyone into her home; her door always was open. She loved flowers and feeding the neighborhood birds and squirrels that visited her porch. Deb's favorite pastime was playing Bingo. She will be missed by her many friends and family members.

Deb is survived by her children, Cassie Gatewood of Marion, Douglas (Stephanie) Gatewood, Dakota Gatewood (Kellie Hoffman) and Misty (Paul) Stadtmiller, all of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Mitchell Beebe, Emma Gatewood, Carter, Sydnee and Eian Gatewood, Kiera Klees, Dawson Zobac, Brooklynn and Dylan Gatewood, Chase, Chance and Cadence Millard; great-grandchild, Mia Alice Beebe; her significant other of 27 years, Russ Swart of Cedar Rapids; as well as her siblings, Jim Gatewood, Doug Gatewood, Kathy Dickerson, Brenda Smith, Donnie Gatewood, Robin McDaniel, Cindy Schmalzl, Tiny McDaniel, Trudy Teslik, Angie Ahlers, David McDaniel and Laurie Hanson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Dorothy McDaniel; and brothers, Bobby Gatewood, Gary Gatewood and Greg McDaniel.
