Deanna Rae (Cook) Ireland, 72, of Solon, passed away peacefully at her home in the early morning hours of Monday, July 6, 2015, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, July 9, at New Covenant Bible Church, Cedar Rapids, conducted by Pastor Tye Male. Family will greet friends from 9 a.m. until service time on Thursday. Burial: Troy Mills Cemetery, Troy Mills. Arrangements made by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her husband, Monte Ireland of Solon; son, Todd Ireland of Solon; daughter, Dr. Monna Ireland of Canyon Lake, Texas; sister, Lora (Gene) Enabnit of Marion.; aunt, Irma Chester of Troy Mills; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Dr. Harlan W. Cook.
Deanna was born March 31, 1943, in Troy Mills, Iowa, the daughter of Harlan and Norma (Cahill) Cook. She preferred staying at home and enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, gardening, crappie fishing and going on pontoon rides. Deanna loved the Lord and enjoyed reading the Bible very much. She was a registered nurse for 35 years, most of that time she was employed at the VA Hospital in Iowa City, where the patients dearly loved her.
Deanna's family meant more to her than anything in the world and even in the end was more concerned about them than herself. She was the best wife and mother that anyone could ever ask for. We thank God for her loving care as she was always there to take care of anyone in need. We are truly blessed to have had such an angel on earth. She will be missed like no other and by so many.
In lieu of flowers, send donations to New Covenant Bible Church in memory of Deanna R. Ireland.
