Dean Floyd Wiest, 48, of Portland, Ore., died March 24, 2014, after a sudden illness.
He was born May 21, 1965, in Waterloo, Iowa, to Vincent and Lena Goldade Wiest, and grew up mostly in the rural Vinton, Iowa, area. He graduated from Washington High School in Vinton in 1983. After attending Hawkeye Community College, he moved to the Gresham, Ore., area and then Portland, Ore., to pursue his own printing business.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Carla Hargis; and sisters, Elaine Graves, Yvonne (Jim) Bottema and Yvette (Larry) Bridge-water.
He also leaves behind Lacey Blazejewski and Stephanie Winter and her children, whom he loved as his own daughters and grandchildren.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Elliott and Jan; a brother-in-law, Don Graves; and nephew, Brent.
Friends and family may attend his celebration of life at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 28, at Larry and Yvette Bridgewater's residence near Walker.
Dean was training to run solo across Oregon to raise money for the Oregon Commission for the Blind and Guide Dogs for the Blind. Memorial may be
directed to those organizations.
