Dean Clay Reifenstahl, 93, of Toledo, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014, at Carrington Place of Toledo. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids,
located at 2121 Bowling St. SW. Burial will follow in Czech National Cemetery, with full military honors. Visitation will be an hour before services Saturday at Brosh Chapel in
Cedar Rapids.
Dean was born Jan. 29, 1920, in Benton County, the son of Bert and Clara (Stahl) Reifenstahl. He married Ruth L. Klepach on April 8, 1942, in Cedar Rapids. She died in October 1980. Dean married Annabell Cahalan Dundee on Aug. 8, 1981, in Walker. She died in January 2003. He married Bertha Sharp on Sept. 3, 2004, in Iowa City.
For over 25 years he worked for Tom Bowker and Son Plumbing and Heating in Cedar Rapids.
Dean was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army where he received the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with four bronze stars.
He was a lifetime member of VFW Lodge 788, 50-year member of Lodge Prokop Velky No. 137 of CSA Fraternal Life, 50-year member of Local Union No. 125 and a former member of the Board of Plumbing Examiners for the City of Cedar Rapids.
Dean's family includes his wife, Bertha of Toledo; his son, Dr. Dean (Frances) Reifenstahl of East Brookfield, Mass.; two grandchildren, Eric and Heidi Reifenstahl; two great-grandchildren; stepchildren, Dr. Gary (Carol) Dundee of Center Point, Jack (Doraine) Dundee of Middletown, Md., Mary (Jim) Henderson of Marion, Helen (Mike) Ramsey of Williamsburg, Joan (Dale) Andrews of Robins, Carolyn (Jim) Clinton of Florida and Kenneth Dvorak and Deborah Dvorak, both of Cedar Rapids; as well as many stepgrand and stepgreat-grandchildren.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Ruth; and his second wife, Annabell.
