Dean W. Haparanta, 69, of Marion, passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2016, with his daughters by his side.
Dean was born June 13, 1946, in Minnesota, the son of Arne and Elayne (Pearson) Haparanta. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Dean worked at Rockwell Collins and in 1990, purchased and began operating the Viking Galley restaurant in Vinton. He enjoyed helping his daughters and spending time with his grandson and granddogs.
Dean is survived by his daughters, Michelle Haparanta and Jody Haparanta; and his grandson, Beckham Dean Haparanta.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A private graveside service will be at Newton Union Cemetery in Newton at a later date.
