Dean, Donald L.D.
Donald L.D. Dean, 100, a lifelong resident of Marion, died Friday, March 9, 2012, at his grandson's home in Anamosa. Services: 10 a.m. Friday, March 16, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion. The family will greet friends one hour before the service at the funeral home on Friday. Private family burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his son, Donald A. (Darlene) Dean of Marion; daughter-in-law, Jessel Dean; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Matilda; son, Lee Roy James Dean; grandson, Donald; great-granddaughter, Sarah; two sisters and three brothers. Don was born Jan. 11, 1912, in rural Linn County, Iowa, the son of Albert and Pearl (Kenyon) Dean. He married Matilda Krizek on March 28, 1932, in Galena, Ill. Don was a U.S. Army veteran having served during World War II. He was a member of American Legion Post 298 of Marion. Don worked as a supervisor with the State of Iowa Highway Commission and the Department of Transportation for 38 years.
Don's family wishes to extend a special thank you to Don's daughter-in-law, Jessel Dean, and his grandson, James, for their loving care.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Camp Courageous at PO Box 418, 12007 190th St., Monticello, IA 52310-0418 in Don's memory.
