Dean Allen Hanover, 68, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2023, at UnityPoint Health-St. Luke’s Hospital following complications with cancer. A Celebration of Life will be held a later date. Teahen Funeral Home and Cremation Services are assisting the family.
Dean is survived by his brother, Doug (Donna) Hanover; sister, Linda Hanover ; three nieces and one nephew, Katie, Carrie, Donald and Stephanie; children, Robert and Kristina and his cat, Furball.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Cheryl; brother, Gerald; parents; and maternal and paternal grandparents.
Dean was born on Aug. 30, 1954, in Cedar Rapids, son of Roy and Charolette Hepker Hanover. He attended Kennedy High School then enlisted in the U.S. Army. Dean was married to Cheryl Jelsenski. Cheryl passed away in 2017. Dean worked at Farmstead and retired as the head of maintenance at the Cedar Rapids Marriott Hotel.
Dean enjoyed fishing, hunting, especially for mushrooms and spending time with his family and friends.
