Dayton, Darlene S.
Darlene S. Dayton, 63, of Clarence, died Sunday, May 6, 2012, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Memorial Service: 1 p.m. Saturday, May 12, St. John's United Church of Christ, Clarence, with the Rev. David Mears officiating. Burial, at a later date, in Dayton, Iowa. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the church. Chapman Funeral Home, Clarence, is handling arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, John; a daughter, Abby (Aaron) Fritz of West Des Moines; two sisters, Ann Johnson of Manson, and Bonnie Hanson-Buckley (Jim) of Port Townsend, Wash.; a brother-in-law, Richard (Paula) Dayton of Iowa City; and nieces and nephews.
Darlene was born June 25, 1948, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, to Russell and Eleanor Smith Hanson. On Aug. 29, 1970, she married John Dayton in Dayton, Iowa. Darlene was a member of P.E.O. and the church. She loved to travel, spend time with friends and family and gardening. Darlene volunteered at North Cedar School District and also enjoyed playing practical jokes on all of her neighbors.
