Dawson, Maurlene Roberta
Maurlene Roberta Dawson, 89, of Stanwood, died Monday, Feb. 22, 2010. Funeral services: Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Fry Funeral Home in Tipton, with Chaplain Brian Reeves officiating. A visitation will take place Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date.

Maurlene Roberta Dawson, daughter of Russell H. and Zella M. Simons Shaffer, was born April 28, 1920, in Tipton. She attended Tipton Community Schools. Maurlene was united in marriage to Don Dawson on Aug. 19, 1955. She was a housewife and was employed at Owens Brush and Midwest Nameplate in Mount Vernon. Maurlene was a member of Mechanicsville Methodist Church.
Maurlene is survived by her daughter, LuAnn (Al) Robinson of Stanwood; son, Donnie (Bev) Dawson of Clarence; stepdaughters, Fern (Jim) Vitense of Tipton, Barbara Burgin of Marion, Patricia (Don) Kinch of Cedar Rapids, Dorie (Al) Fouts of Denver, Colo.; stepson, Harold (Carol) Dawson of Mechanicsville; sisters, Delores (Raymond) Wildasin of Davenport, Sharon (George) Whipple of Covina, Calif.; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don Dawson on Jan. 17, 2003; infant son, Russell Dawson; brother, Robert Shaffer; and stepson, Gerald Dawson.
A general memorial fund has been established in memory of Maurlene.
