DAWN BALLINGER

Dawn D. Ballinger, 66, of Toledo, passed away March 13, 2016, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, March 18, at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama, with the Rev. Dewey Grimes officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo. Visitation will be Thursday, March 17, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Dawn was born Aug. 7, 1949, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Gerald and Mable (Hill) Bennett. She graduated from high school in Colorado Springs, Colo., and went to beauty school in Davenport.
On Sept. 17, 1994, she was united in marriage to Bob Ballinger at Living Faith United Methodist Church in Tama. For eight years, Dawn managed King Tower Restaurant, where she also had worked as a waitress. She had previously worked as a beautician.
She was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary and Swisher American Legion Auxiliary. In her free time, she enjoyed cleaning and crocheting.
Survivors include her husband, Bob Ballinger of Toledo; one son, Allen Lobdell of Montpelier; two stepsons, Brett Ballinger of Toledo and Wesley (Tiffany) Ballinger of Houston, Texas; one stepdaughter, Gina (Paul) Huber of Aberdeen, S.D.; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Geraldine (Robert) Teel of Cedar Rapids; her mother-in-law, Ruby Ballinger of Westboro, Mo.; two brothers-in-law, Bill (Angela) Ballinger and Marvin Ballinger, both of Westboro, Mo.; two sisters-in-law, Kay (David) Gebhards of Rockport, Mo., and Bernice Fletcher of Clinton, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; one brother, Ty Bennett; one sister, Tami Taylor; and one nephew, T-Bone Bennett.
A memorial fund has been established.
