Davison, George E.
George E. Davison, 83, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2011, at Northbrook Manor Care Center following an extended illness. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Zona Kathryn Davison of Marion; two sons, George E. (Linda) Davison Jr. of Cedar Rapids and Steven L. (Teresa) Davison of Cameron, N.C.; two brothers, Jon L. Davison and Joel D. Davison; two sisters, LaJune Singer and Marilyn V. Armstrong; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
George was preceded in death by a grandson, Jeremiah Davison; and two sisters, Marjorie A. Welsh and Lois G. Vandenberg.
George was born Dec. 14, 1927, in Mercer County, Ill., the son of Edward and Mildred (Beverlin) Davison. He married Zona Kathryn Munson on Aug. 14, 1949, in Joy, Ill. George worked more than 25 years for Coonrod Wrecker and Crane Service as a crane operator engineer.
He enjoyed gardening, planting, and spending time with his family. George was known as the “giggler” due to his funny sense of humor and always making friends and family laugh.
His smile and laughter will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
