Davis, Emma M.
Emma M. Davis, 99, of Central City, passed away Thursday, Jan. 6, 2011, at Monticello Nursing & Rehab Center in Monticello. Cremation will be handled by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion. Memorial services: 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 10, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 915 27th St., Marion, where Emma was a longtime member. Pastors Gregory Williamson and Donald Loesch will officiate at the service. Family will be at the church to greet family and friends of Emma at 10 a.m.
Emma was born to Henry and Lena (Ritterodt) Armbrecht on June 19, 1911, at Clemons, Iowa. Emma was baptized July 11, 1911, and was confirmed on April 24, 1924, at St. John's Lutheran Church. Emma married Howard Davis on June 5, 1935, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Marshalltown. Three children were born to this union, Marilyn Krog, Carolyn Brasier and Kathleen Davis. Emma was a very dedicated nurse for 40-plus years.
Survivors include her children, Marilyn (Dick) Krog of Central City, Carolyn (Darrell) Brasier of Galeton, Colo., and Kathleen Davis of Central City. Also surviving are grandchildren, Robert (Brenda) Andrick, Dennis (Linda) Krog and John (Pam) Krog; nine great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and several great-great-grandchildren.
Emma was preceded in death by her husband, Howard; her parents, four brothers and a granddaughter.
