Davis, Betty Marie
Betty Marie Davis, 88, a resident of Marion, died Thursday, July 28, 2011. Private Family burial will take place at Woodland Cemetery in Oelwein. Memorial services: 3 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2, at the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, Marion. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion.
Survivors include her children, Tom (Kathy) Davis of Marion, Tim (Lynne) Davis of Marion, Jim (Cindy) Davis of Tucson, Ariz., Pat (Gary) Armstrong of Storm Lake and Bill (Brenda) Davis of Denver, Colo.; a brother, Dr. Harold Hallberg of Oelwein; 16 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Betty was born March 15, 1923, in Oelwein, Iowa, the daughter of Clay and Matha Hallberg. She married Dr. Thomas J. Davis on April 25, 1948, in Cedar Rapids. He died March 16, 1987. Betty lived her life with verve, style and grace. Her happiest times were spent when surrounded by family and friends. She was a lifelong Lutheran, attended Coe College, and was a charter member of PEO Chapter KJ, OOP, and Chi Omega sorority.
The family wishes to express thanks to St. Luke's Hospice and the staff at Bickford Cottage.
