Davis, Addie M.
Addie M. Davis, 74, of 2312 Glacier St. SW, died Friday, Aug. 10, 2012. at her home of cancer. Services: 11 a.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, where friends may call after 10 a.m. Monday. Entombment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, Garland; a son, Richard (Teresa) of Cedar Rapids; three daughters, Diana (John) Prenosil, Gina Davis Brown and Terry Davis, all of Cedar Rapids; and a sister, Helen Porter of Mississippi. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, three sisters, and a great-grandson, Baby Derrick.
Addie was born Feb. 23, 1938, in Waterloo, the daughter of Albert and Addie White Deeds. She married Garland G. Davis on Feb. 18, 1955, in Russell, Kan. Addie did home child care for over 30 years and most recently worked for The Gazette, retiring in 2000.
Addie enjoyed bowling, bingo, fishing, travel, going to the casino and especially the time she spent with her friends and beloved family.
She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
The family would like to thank the St. Luke's Hospice team, especially Erin, Angie and Lori, for their loving care given to Addie.
A memorial fund has been established.
