Davies, Winifred F. 'Wini'

Winifred F. ”Wini” Davies, 89, of Heritage Nursing and Rehab, Cedar Rapids, died there Monday, Nov. 29, 2010, after a long illness. Services at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Entombment at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.

Survivors include a daughter–in-law, Jocile “Jo” Davies; granddaughters, Korissa Davies and Mindy (Dan) Bedel, all of Cedar Rapids; great-grandchildren, Hannah and Peyton; as well as several relatives living in Ireland.

She was preceded in death by two her two sons, Lynn and Michael “Mike,” and a sister and a brother.

Wini was born on June 7, 1921, in Portadown, Ireland, the daughter of David and Florence Hughes Topping. She worked in assembly at Square D and retired from there after more than 30 years of service. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church. Wini enjoyed playing golf, bowling, going for long walks with her dogs, baking and traveling the United States as well as to Ireland.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Alzheimer's Association or Mercy Hospice.
