Davidson, Gloria A.
Gloria A. Davidson, 58, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2011, in her home, peacefully surrounded by her family. Memorial services: 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 14, at First Presbyterian Church, by the Rev. Ted Miller. Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her husband of 32 years, David W. Davidson; her daughter, Lauren A. Davidson; her son, Matthew C. Davidson; her mother, Gloria Walko; and a sister, Dawn Walko, all of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her father, John A. Walko.
Gloria was born Oct. 16, 1952, in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of John and Gloria Walko. She married David W. Davidson on July 1, 1978, in Fargo, N.D. Gloria was a bookkeeper for the Boy Scouts of America, and was a member and deacon at First Presbyterian Church. Gloria was a very active volunteer and received a Volunteer of the Year Award from the Cedar Rapids School System. She served as PTA president for both Cleveland Elementary and Jefferson High School.
Gloria enjoyed gardening, knitting, cooking and reading. Her greatest love was her family and she maintained they were her reason for living. Gloria was extremely proud of Lauren and Matthew's accomplishments and she beamed over the fine young adults she brought into this world.
Although Gloria will be greatly missed, her family and friends know their loss will most assuredly be heaven's gain.
