Cedar Rapids
David Norman Wittke, 69, of Van Horne, formerly of Cedar Rapids, passed away after an eight-month battle with lung cancer on Thursday, Feb. 2, 2017, at Keystone Care Center, Keystone, Iowa. Per David's wishes, there will be no service.
Survivors include his wife, Suzanna Ivester; children, Charles (Destiny) and Scott (Cindy); grandchildren, Ali (Eric), Paul, David and Charles; great-grandchildren, AhnaLeah and Renley; brothers, Robin (Angela) and Charles (Darcee); and stepchildren, Mike (Kim) and Craig (Jodi).
He was preceded in death by his parents.
David was born May 18, 1947, in Cedar Rapids, son of Charles and Norma Jean (Vinton) Wittke. He attending Waterloo East High School and competed on the diving team. David served in the U.S. Army from 1967 to 1970. Suzanna and David were engaged for 36 years before they were united in marriage on July 14, 2016. He worked for Quaker Oats for 40 years, retiring in 2011.
David enjoyed fishing, antiquing, reading, driving his Corvette with the Cedar Rapids Corvette Club, road tripping and trips to the casino. He loved music, dancing and Christmas with his cousins.
He will be missed dearly by his family and friends.
