David W. Oliphant, 74, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Thursday, February 15, 2024, at Heritage Specialty Care, Cedar Rapids. David’s greatest pride in life was his sons and his joy came from his family, extended family, pets, and friends. On that note, his family will host a gathering of family and friends to celebrate and remember David’s life from 4 – 7 p.m. March 3, 2024, at Leonardo’s, 2228 16th Ave. SW, Cedar Rapids. Entombment will be held at the Linwood Cemetery mausoleum in Cedar Rapids. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids assisted the family.
David was born November 7, 1949, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Wayne and Mildred (Goughner) Oliphant. He graduated from Jefferson High School and the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa. On July 21, 1979, David was united in marriage to Donna Muenzenmeyer in Richland, Iowa. David was a dedicated teacher at the Mt. Vernon Community School District for 40 years. He retired in 2010.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Oliphant, and sons, Matthew Oliphant of Cedar Rapids, and William Oliphant of Osceola, Wisconsin.
David was preceded in death by his parents, nephew, Mark Muenzenmeyer, and brothers-in-law, Gene, and Don Muenzenmeyer.
