David C. Tracey, 82, of Manchester, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2017, at Regional Medical Center. Celebration of Life will be at 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20, at Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Manchester, where friends may call from 2 p.m. until service time.
David was born May 13, 1934, in Manchester, Iowa, the son of Thomas and Mabel (Knoche) Tracey. He graduated from Manchester High School in 1952. David then attended Coe College and the University of Michigan, receiving his law degree in 1962. David served in the U.S. Army actively from 1956 to 1958 and retired from the Army Reserves in 1993. He married Jill Thomson on Aug. 30, 1959, in Huntington, N.Y. After receiving his law degree, David returned to Manchester to join his family's law practice.
David was an avid golfer. He was a member of the first Manchester golf team to make it to state competition, and was awarded a varsity letter in golf from Coe College. He enjoyed playing cards with friends, and was a devoted University of Michigan fan. David served as past Rotary District Governor, county attorney, and was a military liaison for West Point.
David is survived by his wife, Jill; his sons, Andrew (Peggy) Tracey of Bellevue, Neb., and Tobin (Andrea) Tracey of Alexandria, Va.; two granddaughters; two great-grandchildren; brother, Donald J. Tracey of Tucson, Ariz.; a sister, Mary Lou Tracey of Manchester; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor's choice.
