David A. Stratton was born Nov. 12, 1953, in Iowa City, the son of Leo and Betty (Peterson) Stratton. He attended Clear Creek Schools, graduating with the Class of 1971. David has spent most of his adult life as an over-the-road truck driver, a job that he both loved and struggled with, as it meant he was away from his family and friends more than he would have ever wanted. But he was always ready to go on another trip when he had to. Later he ended up working for Stutzman's in Hills, and he was able to enjoy the best of both worlds, driving the open road and being home with family and friends.
David's family, friends and his work were very important to him. When his grandchildren came on the scene, he was one very proud grandpa, often there at all their events. You see family is so important to him, something he knew from his parents and grandparents.
His family includes his three children, Tammy Banwart (Roger), Travis Stratton (Suzy) and Josh Stratton (Michelle); grandchildren, Lydia Banwart, Noah Banwart, Abraham Banwart, Cade Stratton, Karsyn Stratton, Kaylee Stratton, Kennedy Stratton, Olivia Stratton, Ayden Stratton, Bowen Stratton and Sophia Stratton; David's siblings, Jeff Stratton (Dea) and Mike Stratton (Brenda); and many nieces, nephews and friends.
David was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Doug.
