David William Smith, 57,
of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, March 7, 2021, in his home. Public visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 10, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW. A private Celebration of Life service will be held at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre, with burial to follow in Linwood Cemetery. The family asks everyone attending to please wear a mask and practice social distancing.
David was born Feb. 15, 1964, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Gordon and Betty (Vozenilek) Smith. He graduated from Cedar Rapids Jefferson High School, Class of 1981. He worked in his earlier years at Hach Brothers and Cedar Graphics, and for the last 20 years at Mid-American Energy. David enjoyed photography, playing bingo, cooking, and most of all spending time with his many friends and family.
David is survived by his daughter, Amy (Jacob) Weigert of Marion; his mothe,r Betty Smith of Cedar Rapids; his brother, Scott (Dani) Smith of Cedar Rapids; his nephews, Ryan Smith and Justin Smith; his nieces, Cori Mason and Megan (Sawyer) Neuhaus; his great-nieces and nephews; as well as his numerous cousins.
David was preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank Vozenilek, Helen and George Huggins, Cecil Smith, Blanche and William Milroy; his father, Gordon; his brother, Brian Smith; an aunt and uncle, Shirley and Frank Vozenilek; and his cousin, Mike Vozenilek.
