David Siebels, 70, died suddenly at his home on Monday morning, Oct. 29, 2018. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, where friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday. Celebrant Holly Knouse will officiate at the services. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery with military honors.

Surviving are his wife, Sally; two children, Teresa (Jason) Siebels-Paulsen and Justin Siebels; two grandsons, Tyler Felton and Tanner (Alyssa Montoya) Felton; his father-in-law, Harold Eby (special friend Helen Heiken); five siblings, Jeanette Johnston, Cleo (Mike) Rogers, Elaine (Gary) Pitz, Bev (Jim) Ervine and Paul (Linda) Siebels; and many cousins and granddogs.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his mother-in-law, Maxine Eby; and a brother-in-law, Leroy Johnston.

David Edwin Siebels was born Oct. 1, 1948, in Anamosa, Iowa. He was the son of Harvey and Frances Louise Caspers Siebels. He graduated from Anamosa Community Schools in 1966. David served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. David and Sally Eby were married on April 17, 1971, at Wayne Zion Lutheran Church in rural Monticello. David farmed with his father-in-law, Harold, near Scotch Grove. In 1987, he went to work at Georgia Pacific and worked there until he retired in 2010. In retirement, he worked at Oak Street in Monticello and for Steve Robinson Farms in Mechanicsville.

David was a family man and was especially proud of his grandsons. He rarely missed one of their many sporting events.
