David S. Rickard, 83, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2023. Services: 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 1, 2023, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, where a visitation will begin at 10 a.m. until service time. Pastoral Intern Alice Murray from St. Marks Lutheran Church will officiate.
Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include his children, Dawn (Scott) Bradley of Mankato, Minn., Brett (Carla) Rickard of Lisbon, Iowa and Laura (Al) Frey of Robins, Iowa; his siblings, Thomas Rickard of Fargo, N.D., sister Winnie of Oregon, sister-in law Millie Rickard of Fargo, N.D.; grandchildren, Derek Kirchert, Spenser Bradley, Courtney Pearson, Tylor Rickard, Cody Rickard, Logan Rickard and Reed Smith; great-grandchildren, Mathew Kirchert, Chloe Kirchert, Deegan Pearson, Presley Pearson, Colson Rickard, Elle Rickard, Brexton Rickard, Atlas Rickard, Jack Rickard; great-great-grandchildren Maverick Kirchert and Baby Kirchert on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Sandra P. Rickard,
David was born Aug. 27, 1940, in Hope, N.D., the son of Elmer and Lottie (Wood) Rickard.
He married Sandra P. Knutsen on Dec. 17, 1960, in Caledonia, Minn. David was a tech engineer for Collins Radio from 1960 until he retired in 1995. He enjoyed computers, traveling, playing cards and dessert…not necessarily in that order. His Faith was always his priority.
